I thought it'd be useful to show the massive increase in the number of government jobs created since Obama has taken office. The expansion of the government workforce is truly remarkable... oh, wait:
That big spike you see in the middle is temporary census hiring by the federal gov't. (My point: Remember the overall downward trend you see here the next time you hear a Tim Pawlenty speech telling you otherwise.) And since a government job created means a private sector job destroyed, according to House Majority Leader John Boehner, private sector jobs must really be growing relative to population, right?
Yeah, I thought so. Note the "spike" in this graph occurs the same time the government was creating more jobs for census workers.
